George Washington Benson (born March 22, 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter.πŸŽΈπŸŽ™πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž
He was a Child Prodigy: πŸ‘ΌπŸ‘ΌπŸ‘Ό
β€’ At the age of 7, he first played the ukulele in a corner drug store, for which he was paid a few dollars.
β€’ At the age of 8, he played guitar in an unlicensed nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights, but the Police soon closed the club down.
β€’ At the age of 9, he started to record.
β€’ At the age of 21, he began his professional career as a jazz guitarist. 🎸🎸🎸🎹🎷🎺
Finally, in 1976, his album BREEZIN’ hit nΒ° 1 on the USA album chart and won a Grammy Award for Record of the Year.πŸŽ–πŸ†πŸ˜€πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜„πŸ˜πŸ˜ŽπŸ€©
In 1977, he also recorded the original version of “The Greatest Love of All”, which was later covered by Whitney Houston.πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸŽ§πŸŽ§πŸŽ€πŸŽ€

In 1980, George Benson released “GIVE ME THE NIGHT” (from his album of the same title). The song was written and composed by Rod Temperton πŸ‘Œand produced by Quincy JonesπŸ‘, while Patti Austin 🎀provided the backing vocals and Herbie Hancock 🎹played the electric piano.
